How to Respond to an I-693 Medical Exam RFE

How to Respond to an I-693 Medical Exam RFE

Receiving a Request for Evidence (RFE) for Form I-693 can be stressful, but most cases can be fixed with a clear response plan.

First, read the RFE line by line and confirm exactly what USCIS requested. Some notices ask for a sealed I-693 only, while others mention missing vaccine records or signature issues.

Schedule your medical exam with a USCIS-designated civil surgeon as soon as possible. Bring photo identification, vaccination history, and your RFE notice so the doctor can complete the form correctly.

Do not open the sealed envelope from the civil surgeon. USCIS may reject the filing if the envelope is opened or altered.

Before mailing, include a copy of the RFE notice on top, keep a full copy of everything for your records, and use tracked shipping. A complete and timely response can keep your green card case moving.

Immigration consultations available, subject to attorney review.
