USCIS Lockbox Rejection: How to Resubmit Without Losing Time

A USCIS lockbox rejection is not the same as a denial. A rejected package is usually treated as not properly filed, which means the applicant may not receive the filing date, receipt notice, or pending-case protection they expected.

Common rejection reasons include wrong fees, outdated form edition, missing signature, incorrect payment method, missing pages, mismatched forms, or filing at the wrong address. The rejection notice and returned packet should be reviewed page by page before resubmission. Simply mailing the same packet back can repeat the same problem.

Timing can be critical. A lockbox rejection may affect status expiration, age-out protection, work authorization timing, visa bulletin eligibility, or a response deadline. Keep the rejection notice, delivery tracking, copies of the original packet, and proof of payment attempts. If a deadline is close, the corrected packet should be prepared with special attention to signatures, fees, and current form editions.

New Horizons Legal helps applicants diagnose lockbox rejections and rebuild filings for quick resubmission. A careful correction can protect the case from preventable delay and confusion over whether the application was ever filed.
